The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer which can only be a good thing when it comes to evening entertainment and if you’re looking for some live music we’ve got you covered. This week we’ve got not one, not two, but three great acts for you here at Langtons and Set Theatre.
On Thursday night we get to welcome Conor O’Brien and Villagers back to Kilkenny, kicking off at 8pm with tickets €15. On Saturday night at 8pm we’ve got a fantastic evening of nostalgia with the Brendan Bowyer show. Tickets there at €25 while on Sunday we’ve got “the most sophisticated hillbilly you’ll ever met” as Michelle Shocked arrives at Set for 8pm. Her solo show will recapture the raw intimacy of a portrait of the artist as a young woman, and refresh memories of that audacious introduction. In addition, along with a trio of sassy singers accompanying her in a girl group/doo-wop style, she’ll introduce new songs from her not-yet-recorded series, Indelible Women; a duet with visual artist David Willardson featuring portraits painted in song of such female icons as Audrey Hepburn, Amelia Earhart, Ella Fitzgerald and Anne Frank to accompany the startling images Willardson has recorded on canvas. While she’s at it, don’t be surprised if she works a pitch for support of arts education in public schools into the act.
We’ll have more on each of these acts in the run in to the weekend but in the mean time take a peek at Villagers live on Jools Holland. Tickets for all of the above shows are now available via Set.ie and by calling reception on 056 7765133.
